<description>This is great! I am a practicum student at Positive Women&#039;s Network in Vancouver; a non-profit AIDS Service Organization for women living with HIV/AIDS in BC. I am helping to organize the upcoming Aboriginal Women&#039;s Wellness Retreat. We are looking for donations of anything that can be used as bedding like sleeping bags, blankets, pillows, and we even need towels! The women attending come from all walks of life and not everyone has access to these items. We will gladly come pick up any donations in the Vancouver area. Thanks a lot for your support.

		<description>Hi Joanna,

Great post, lots of good stuff here. Sometimes when you&#039;re decluttering you just want to get rid of stuff (and sometimes when you are getting rid of stuff you just want to keep it out of the landfill, if possible). Here&#039;s my list of anti-landfill locations:

Safeway: plastic bags

Save-on-Foods Changes Depot: bottle, cans, gable-top boxes, juice boxes (not tetra)

Mountain Equipment Co-op: polyester clothing, batteries, inkjet cartridges, cellphones
http://www.mec.ca/Main/content_text.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302881709#recycling

City of Vancouver: Mixed paper, cardboard, some plastics, steel cans, aluminum, glass

Liquor Store: bottles that contained alcohol

Ikea: compact fluorescents and batteries

Grocery stores take back returnable glass milk bottles and other deposit bottles

Here are some more links to find info on recycling in Vancouver:

Greater Vancouver Garbage, Recycling, and Waste Directory
http://www.gvrd.com/recycling/index.html

Alternative Disposal &amp; Recycling Locations
http://vancouver.ca/engsvcs/solidwaste/landfill/alternative.htm

City of Vancouver Recycling info
https://vancouver.ca/engsvcs/solidwaste/recycling/index.htm

The big one that is missing is composting. Up to 40% of solid waste is potentially compostable.</description>
