It’s not that I haven’t been using Visio. It’s that I’ve been too busy doing things in Visio to write about it.
So, without further delay, here’s a completely useless Visio tip. If you want to insert text for the height of a shape onto a shape: Control+E. I found it by chance when trying to save a document, and it doesn’t appear to be documented anywhere.
Slightly more useful is the keyboard shortcut for superscript: Control+Shift+= (Control+= makes subscript)
I used this one a lot when I was working on the wireframes for the new web site for the Toronto Transit Commission. The times in the schedule use superscript for the am and pm next to the hour. The shortcut key is most useful when you’ve highlighted text inside a block because otherwise Control+Shift+= will just superscript your entire text block.
And, if you’re wondering why the preview site is coded unsemantically using
, it’s logged as a bug.
